OPERATION POLIOMYELITIS

POLIO HAS LONG DISAPPEARED IN MEXICO but it’s footprints are found everywhere among the crippled. Over 1500 patients have been provided with life-changing surgeries, some walking for the first time.

THE “SOME” OF IT ALL..

Some walk... some run and play... and then there are some who barely crawl. Some are happy... some content and confident... and then there are some hidden in the shadows of their paralyzed and twisted limbs overwhelmed by embarrassment and their low self-esteem.

During the past twenty years, multiple surgeries, prosthesis and braces have been provided to over fifteen hundred patients afflicted with poliomyelitis.  Many have walked for the first time!

Maria Eugenia could not walk; she was carried in her father’s arms.  After multiple surgeries, she took her first steps.  Life did not end there.  After completing her degree in counseling at the university in Morelia, she is now working, married and the proud mother of two.

Our sincere thanks to Dr. Rogelio Acuña, our faithful surgeon for more than twenty years, the Civil Hospital of Morelia, Bill Sailer, Bob Hawley and many others who have been directly involved in blessing those who had been neglected or forgotten.

MANO DE AYUDA HAS MEANT NEW LIFE for many, where the obscuring shadows have been illuminated... where their despairs have been replaced with contentment and a personal joy.
