THE PROGRAM CLINIC
Only minor illnesses are treated at Mano de Ayuda. Patients are carefully screened and the patients with the more serious illnesses are taken to specialists in Morelia and to the Civil Hospital. A team of specialized physicians have rallied around John and offered their talents for years at no cost. Can you imagine 100,000 patients attended to since 1982... more than 5,000 surgeries provided at no or reduced cost... so many “blessed” in the desert place with just a few loaves! How could that be? His name is Jesus.
John has attended over 200 births in the villages near the Mano de Ayuda Center. The births have provided some of his most prayerful moments with a new creation passing from the Maker’s hands to his and then on to it’s mother’s arms.
He has attended the poor in distant rural villages, accessible only by mule, and also in town plazas, sitting on the sidewalk. His love for the poor has been honed out of that heart that was momentarily silenced that day on Calvary. A love not His own... yet a love cherished.. a love shared.
